http://www.vladtv.com - "I get sick and tired of so many of children's brains being kidnapped by the ignorance of self-destruction. This s*** ain't funny."
Political analyst and social commentator Dr. Boyce Watkins has had issues with Lil Wayne for years. Between his derogatory lyrics and defamation of historic figures, Watkins feels "he's been trained to use his powers for evil instead of good." Though he feels Wayne "has grown out of that," the writer couldn't help but to add his two cents when he saw that Mountain Dew was working with the rap heavyweight -- unfortunately enough, rapper Tyler, the Creator "got caught in the crossfire."
It was the Mountain Dew commercial directed by the "Goblin" rapper that sent Dr. Watkins over the edge. "Here you have this imagery of this frail, frightened White woman who'd been beaten and abused with this White police officer, with a lineup that consisted of nothing but Black men and a goat, who basically sounded like a brother." The ad was labeled as arguably "the most racist commercial in history" by Watkins, and was immediately pulled from all stations. He admits that he has no problems with Tyler directly, but says to him "you can't make your money at the expense of the entire Black community." "I wish that brother had a father in his life," or at the very least a male mentor," he stated.
Watkins used the commercial as a platform to get Mountain Dew to realize that "their affiliation with Lil Wayne is dangerous," reciting lyrics from his track "Steady Mobbin" for them to prove his point. Watkins feels the media has turned Black men into "monsters" and now that Black men make up the majority of the population in prisons nationwide, he has had enough of the bashing from one Black man to another.
Watch as he calls on Tyler, the Creator to reach out to him "if he watches this" and how he feels jailed Black men are simply "political prisoners" in what he calls "the Holocaust for Black people," above.
